AMS Device Configurator is a lightweight Windows application from Emerson designed to configure, commission, and troubleshoot smart field instruments without deploying a full asset management system. It provides direct access to HART and FOUNDATION Fieldbus device parameters and methods, so technicians can quickly identify devices, view diagnostics, adjust ranges and engineering units, perform trims, set damping and burst mode, and run loop and valve checks. The software supports modern FDI-based device packages and EDDL device descriptions, ensuring up-to-date, device-specific functionality. You can create and edit configurations offline, save and compare them, and download them to the field to streamline startups and maintenance. Connect using a USB HART modem, a suitable fieldbus interface, or an AMS Trex Device Communicator acting as a modem. With a clean, task-focused interface, AMS Device Configurator delivers reliable smart-instrument configuration on a laptop—ideal for sites that need efficient device setup and basic management without the overhead of a plantwide platform.
